Easier Does It

Wesmac Custom Boats has made it a little easier to launch the big fishing boats and motor yachts that it builds in Surry. Last year, the company bought the parcel of land at the corner of Wharf Road and Route 172 above the town landing on Patten Bay. This spring, K.J. Dugas Construction Co. carved out a level 100-foot by 150-foot compacted gravel area with an entrance from Wharf Road and an exit leading to the launching ramp and power on site. The new work will eliminate the need to haul both new and service boats back and forth over Route 172 to the Wesmac yard or for crews to make 11-mile round trips to the dock at Perry’s Lobster Shack on Newbury Neck, which the company used as a service point for its boats.
